MUTUA TO BUILD AIRPORT AT NEW MACHAKOS TOWN

Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua approached Nema for approval to build an airport in Machakos town to boost regional trade and tourism. Located at Muvuti-Kiima-Kimwe Ward within the proposed New Machakos town, the Machakos Airport will sit on 104 hectares – about 8.5% of the planned 892-hectare town. The project involves construction of a taxiway, passenger and presidential terminals, as well as a 1.35km runway, and other amenities such as link roads and a water treatment plant. “The runway will be 1350m long and 45m wide. At both ends of the runway, a stop way will be constructed. The runway shoulders will be 7.5m wide and a Runway End Safety Area (RESA) of 180m length and 160m width will be provided at both ends of the runway,” Machakos says in its project report. Fauci Asks China To Release Records On Wuhan Lab Workers.

Top U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci has called on China to release the medical records of nine people whose ailments might provide vital clues into whether COVID-19 first emerged as the result of a lab leak, the Financial Times reported on Thursday. "I would like to see the medical records of the three people who are reported to have got sick in 2019. Did they really get sick, and if so, what did they get sick with?" the reportquoted Fauci as saying about three of the nine. The origin of the virus is hotly contested, with U.S. intelligence agencies still examining reports that researchers at a Chinese virology laboratory in Wuhan were seriously ill in 2019 a month before the first COVID-19 cases were reported. The Nishikilie hitmaker Kambua Mathu says losing her newborn baby has provided her with the toughest challenge, yet. She came out four months after losing her baby to a short illness. She spoke on the journey of healing she’s been going through which has been possible through prayer and divine intervention from God. “Love lifts. Love has truly lifted me, from a place of deep pain & despair. The love of God, my keeper… The love of each and every one of you who cried with me held me, prayed for me and my family,” she wrote on Instagram.  Barcelona confirmed Sergio Aguero's arrival with a short statement on their official website. V oters in Somaliland are today casting their ballot in parliamentary and local elections. More than 1 million people, a record number in Somaliland, have registered to vote. The previous presidential election in November 2017 recorded just over 700,000 registered voters, according to government figures.  In this year’s elections, 246 candidates are gunning for 82 parliamentary seats while 966 are vying for 249 district municipality seats in the republic’s six regions. The region has invited international observers for the elections, including political figures from elsewhere in Africa. More than one hundred international observers including Uganda’s former opposition leader, Kizza Besigye and ex-president of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Korma are in Somaliland keeping an eye on proceedings. President Uhuru Commissions The Launch Of Kisumu Shipyard

 President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday afternoon commissioned the launch of Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) in Kisumu. KSL aims to establish and grow the country's shipbuilding industry. Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye, who arrived in Kenya on Monday morning, was also present at the event.  The Burundian Head of State is in the country for a two-day State visit. The new Kisumu Shipyard will play a pivotal role in growing Kisumu Port into a modern regional lake transport hub. The Kisumu yard is the second of KSL's facilities with the largest under construction in Mombasa. "Today, together with my brother, the president of Burundi, we have just laid the keel of the marine investment ,Uhuru II, which is the first ship built at Kisumu port for the last almost 70 years"  The president further stated that the shipyard has caused the movement of over 50 million liters of fuel between this port of Kisumu and Uganda thereby reducing the cost of fuel in Uganda.

And for the four years trains have been moving atop the rail, the country's transport sector has really changed and no one understands these changes more than men and women who work hard to ensure its success. On Monday, Kenya will mark four years since the China-built Standard Gauge Railway began operations. Afristar is the company that runs the SGR, and staff say the train services have changed how goods and people move. Helicopter crashes after flying H.E. Raila Odinga.

 The chopper that had dropped H.E. Raila Amollo Odinga crashed as it took off in Siaya County. According to Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, the helicopter, Bell 407 registration 5Y-PSM, had dropped Raila and four others at the venue and was trying to create space for other choppers when it crashed. He said the ODM leader was safe and had left the plane by the time of the incident. “The former PM is safe following an incident in which a chopper that had flown him from Kisumu to Gem in Siaya County crashed shortly after dropping him and his entourage of four people,” Onyango said in a statement. Onyango said the pilot, and those who were on board escaped with minor injuries. According to the chopper’s pilot Julius Mwambanga, the helicopter crashed as he tried to take off after dropping Raila who had accompanied President Kenyatta to the area to commission various projects.
